The German Gymnastics Festival runs zensario.ImagePool as an event portal.

Along the lines of "We Build Bridges", the International German Gymnastics Festival 2009 took place from 30th of May until 4th of June 2009 in Frankfurt. More than 80.000 active participants, 6.000 workers and voluntary helpers as well as more than one million visitors set Frankfurt into an emergency state for one week. Many events like competitions, shows, further education, scientific congresses, parties, and so on, took place at the same time. The images, taken by a large number of photographers, lively reflect the emotions of the festival´s greatest events, the most spectacular presentations, the most exciting competitions, and of course of the participants themselves. Any data was being uploaded to an editorial team via UMTS.

In the background, the editorial team edited the data, tagged the images and put them on the event platform turnfestfotos.de. Overall, 2.521 selected pictures impressively mirror the festival online for the masses. All images are available for purchase. Federations and association, as well as everybody else can acquire professional image data via the platform.

Every four years, the German Gymnastics Festival has the task to set milestones in the development of the German Gymnastics federations and associations. This goes for the realization of the programs of the association as well as for the use of the gymnastics festival as a communicative platform for innovations and the exchange of programs, initiatives, and actions to offer developments and personal education in the association´s activity. The representatives of the German Gymnastics Association all have the same opinion that the event portal turnfestfotos.de clearly was such a milestone. Never before, so many images were available to the pubic in such a short timeframe.

The innovative concept of public image data management has totally convinced the masses in the on-road test. External users were delighted and used the event portal actively. Several pageviews per second on the data managed in 42 categories, were registered. The reliable application zensario.ImagePool kept what its developer, the zensario GmbH, had promised before: No user had to wait at any time to see the pictures.

Besides the advantage for the public, the German Gymnastics Association benefited from the platform as a very well structured, internationally open medium, in order to professionally manage the images during the event and beyond, for example, in order to publish an illustrated book. On top of that, the German Gymnastics Association still uses the images today for several marketing purposes in print and online areas.

Turnfestfotos.de is going to remain online until the next German Gymnastics Festival 2013 in the metropolitan region Rhein-Neckar. Until then, it keeps the memories to the event in Frankfurt alive as well as increases the anticipation to the upcoming event in 2013.
